How often do you never get paid? Many of you might already appreciate the benefits of accepting Visa/Mastercard, Amex, and Discover, but currently call in/key in credit card transactions. The fact that a physical credit card is not swiped is costing your business money. It is considered a higher risk transaction and your discount rate will be higher on a non-swiped card transaction. The solution that will save your company time and money is the wireless credit card terminal.

Wireless networks have evolved to the point where they are now very comprehensive and cost effective. The following list of professions could benefit substantially from wireless processing: plumbers, locksmiths, taxis, limo’s, pizza delivery, home parties, trade show participants, flea market merchants, contractors, electricians, snow plowing, lawn maintenance and photographers. The list is endless!

We all know that it is much more appetizing to spend a little more money when you use plastic. Credit Cards also make it more possible for an impulse purchase. For example, we are currently quoting an aerial photographer that takes beautiful pictures of homes in New England, then sells the finished product to the homeowner. A wireless terminal will surely increase his business and grab many of those impulse buyers that might not have purchased with cash on hand.

In closing, many industries could benefit from a wireless hand held credit card terminal. As always, do your research before purchasing and demand that your credit card processor educate you on all aspects of your contract!

Gerald Schiano is a consultant with United Bankcard of New England. Compared to traditional credit card processing services, mobile credit card processing ensures faster payment, increases overall sales and credibility, and saves a lot of money. A well maintained mobile credit card processing equipment is a must for such transactions. Mobile credit card machines are useful for those merchants who like to take their business to the customers. The functioning of a mobile credit card machine is simple. By swiping the customer's credit card through the mobile credit card processing equipment, all the transaction processes are done automatically in real time. When the merchant gets the authorization, a printed receipt is given to the customer.

Mobile credit card processing equipment helps in accepting payments through online credit cards as well as by telephone. With its state-of-the-art technology, mobile credit card processing equipment provides a secure payment gateway that enables fraud screening and also real time reporting of every transaction. For an online transaction, only a virtual terminal is needed. This enables you to get all the services through the Internet.

Mobile credit card processing equipment has certain added advantages when compared to traditional wireless merchant accounts. They include low monthly charges, low processing fee and no monthly minimum processing charge. Today, the wireless mobile credit card processing equipment is the latest in convenience and portability.

Many business concerns sign a contract with mobile credit card processing equipment companies for their services. These contracts might be for 2 to 5 years, a fact which is often unknown to the firm. Consequently, if a firm needs to terminate a contract, a cancellation fee is charged by these companies. So care should be while choosing the services of such companies. Typically, online merchant services work through Internet merchant accounts that are provided through an acquiring bank. This acquirer effectively allows you to accept or make payments through credit cards online. As it is the case with almost any business decision, there are a number of both advantages as well as disadvantages to online systems of payment and also to other types of processors of credit card. On a general basis, the advantages tend to be tied to having a direct control of the system for processing the payment. On the flip side the disadvantages tend to revolve around factors like mechanics, logistics, and security. The responsibility for the entire process of payment is a very risky affair and needs to be contemplated to avoid any loopholes.

A major concern that a lot of people face is the costs incurred to obtain online merchant services. There are a multitude of potential fees and costs that are associated with even designing an ecommerce web site that would provide these services. If you are looking to set up such a web service to enhance your business process then you need to consider potential charges for the same. Various credit card merchant account fees will crop up from each provider who is involved in assisting you to establish your ecommerce web site. The merchant service set up will involve application fees, the actual set-up fees, not to mention yearly membership charges. There are also other factors like monthly statement charges and gateway access fees. The list is quite long and so you will need to look into it in a comprehensive manner as it is easy to misinterpret the fee structures. This is because very rarely are all the exact costs related to ecommerce revealed in a single place. However in the end the set up of such an online merchant service could prove to be extremely beneficial to your trade and could leverage your customer base. Credit cards are one of the main tools in
purchasing goods and services today.

You can apply for credit cards directly to the credit card
companies by filing up their information and application
sheets. Thanks to technology, it plays its role again of
providing convenient and easy to use services.

You can now find and apply for credit cards online. By simply
clicking on your mouse, you can now have an access to different
credit card companies available in the internet. You can also
transact business from a multitude of banks available in the
network.

If you have an Internet connection at home, you have the
greatest advantage over other people. Almost a majority of the
banks features an online application system via the Internet.
One good thing about these banks is that they are willing to
approve the credit cards within 30 seconds or even less.

The process of online application is simple. After you
accomplish all the necessary prerequisites that you need to
furnish, the website will send you through email the result of
your application in just a few seconds.

In order for you to find out the types of credit cards that you
can avail, try to search in the net. You have plenty of options.
Every credit card company is obliged to post the entire copy of
their terms and conditions. You can also check on it on the
Internet. Some of the sites do not post their annual charges so
beware about this.

If your problem is your previous bad credit, worry no more
about it. Even in online credit card application, they offer a
special credit card for people with such status. Nevertheless,
there are certain restraints that are set for you unless you
recover from your bad credit record.

As of now, more and more people are applying for credit cards
online. Part of the reason for doing such is the speed and
convenience of doing so. Another reason is that, you can choose
from a wide variety of credit card companies. The sites are
providing all the possible names of the companies that offer
online credit card application.

Credit card application is easy. Everyday, an additional
website posts all the needed information in the net. Therefore,
you will have an access to a huge number of sites, if you want
to shop around, it will be easier for you.

After you have decided on which type of card you want to avail,
you click on the site of the credit card company and fill in
your details. You will be asked about your personal data of
course, be honest as possible in filing it for legality
purposes.

They will check your application, review it and do a credit
assessment. If they find all the information about yourself
satisfying and they believe in your credibility, they will
instantly accept your application. There are some rules that
you also need to comply with credit card online application.
You can find them online in their website. These rules vary
from one credit card company to another.

Like direct application of credit card in credit card
companies, always abide with the regulations that they set for
you. This is also same with your credit card application
online.

About the Author: Morgan Hamilton offers expert advice and
great tips regarding all aspects concerning Credit Cards. They are very commonly used in retail stores and restaurants. Most merchant credit card terminals accept all major credit, debit, and private-label cards offering low-cost credit card authorization, check guarantee, and data capture for a range of retail applications.

A terminal to process credit cards is a great investment to your business. Most merchant credit card terminals support Internet-based services such as e-mail, electronic signature, interactive electronic coupons, onscreen advertising, cash management reporting, and e-commerce. They make transactions more convenient, faster, and accurate for both customers and merchants.

At first, merchant credit card processing terminals verify your customer's card information. Then they withdraw money for the purchase from the customer?s account and deposit it directly into your merchant account. The most important units of merchant credit card terminals are card readers with a small keypad and display. They require power supply and can communicate through a telephone line. Modern terminals are powered by batteries and can communicate wireless or over the Internet. They come in several sizes and prices.

There are many types of merchant credit card terminals: traditional terminals (with or without printers), wireless terminals, and virtual or software-based terminals. Merchants with a permanent place of business need a basic card reader terminal. In this case, the terminal is placed right on the counter where all transactions take place. For businesses that constantly change locations, a wireless credit card processing terminal is a good choice. It is suitable for merchants who are always on the go.

Millions of merchant credit card terminals ship annually and the majority have the same basic functions and features. It can only be used in combination with a merchant account that processes credit card transactions. Businesses already using credit card terminals need to buy extra equipments to maintain additional services such as debit card transactions and issuing and accepting gift cards. A number of terminals also support additional forms of payment such as electronic bank transfers and phone cards. The world seems to have been squeezed
and wrapped into a credit card. Nowadays everybody speaks and
grasps the language of credit cards. The credit card syndrome
seems to have gripped all of us.

But are credit cards only beneficial? Let us analyze the pros
and cons of this pocket plastic and see what outweighs the
other.

The Benefits of a Credit Card:

• Keep heavy cash in abeyance—money is the most coveted thing
in this world. Carrying lot of cash wherever you go is always a
bone of contention. A credit card facilitates you to travel
without heavy cash and have a carefree and happy trip or
shopping.

• Imagine yourself out for shopping in a wonderful mall. While
you shop, you remember to take boots for your son, spectacles
for mother, necklace for your beloved wife…but falling short of
money! The credit card is your best friend in such a situation.

• Even if you lose your credit card, you need not be
apprehensive and scared the way you get when you lose your
cash. This is because you can get the card freezed or blocked
from the bank and relax.

• Credit card works anywhere and everywhere nowadays. You just
need to bag your card and make a move to any destination
without bothering for money.

• Loan facility can also be availed via credit cards.

The Negative Aspect of Surge in Credit Card usage

• Generally everybody does not meet the eligibility criterion
to hold a credit card. yet in order to enhance their sales and
as part of marketing strategies, companies, private banks etc.
do away with giving these cards to who so ever caters even to
the minimum terms and conditions.

• The loan factor-the cards provide you with huge credit
limits. The consumer ignorant of the forthcoming trouble, keeps
on drawing money from his card and most often when he realizes
his mistake, it is too late. He not only comes in the debt of
the money he withdrew but also the massive interest that is
charged by these companies and banks.

• Many credit card companies provide lucrative offers almost
every month in the form of incentives. These incentives are
basically meant to boost the sale of their product. Incentives
like travel programs, gas purchases etc. are a very common
phenomenon these days. But one should not get lured by these
for it is well said that everything that glitters is not gold.
Initially the cards might be promising for some cheerful
moments but once you become habitual of them they can land you
in soup.

• The addictiveness- it is most often the addictiveness of
these cards that is a source of trouble. People, who keep on
drawing from the bank’s or company’s credit, suffer largely.

• Debit cards are believed to be different from the credit
cards. But actually the difference is minute. A debit card can
also be used as a credit card at times and there are some
eminent banks that charge fee with the debit cards too. So more
or less the situation remains to be the same.

When you make up your mind to go for a debit card, consult some
advisor. Know the details of the interest rate, the tenure to
repay the amount and other such things. Do not be carried away
by brand names. Just make a survey first and then decide which
one to go for.

About the Author: Mansi aggarwal writes about credit card.
Learn more at http://www.wisecreditcarduse.com .

Source: http://www.isnare.com

Wireless Credit Card Terminal

You’re Not Alone: Credit Card Statistics
By Karen Walker

Do you have any idea just how common credit cards are? Let’s
take a look at a few statistics from the USA.

The average family carries a balance of between $5,000 and
$8,000 on all their credit cards, depending on which figures
you believe. Over $1,000 per family goes on interest every
year. And that’s just the average – some people owe much more!
Overall, Americans spend over $1 trillion every year on their
credit cards, and owe more than $500 billion of it.

If debt continues at the current rate, then one family in a
hundred will be forced into bankruptcy. Over 90% of Americans’
disposable incomes are spent paying back debts. Whatever
happened to saving?

Debt Costs Everyone Money.

Literally billions of dollars are being used up on expenses
that are only created because of the existence of the credit
card industry. The weight of the calculations, administration
and marketing needed to support the industry is immense – the
average American gets at least one credit card offer in the
mail every day.

That’s before you take into account the burden bankruptcies put
on the court system, and the cost to the government of providing
subsidised debt counselling. You might also note that consumers
with more debt have less to spend – and when money isn’t
flowing, it hurts the economy. There are very few industries or
people that aren’t hurt by debt, at least in the long run.

Debt is Much More Common Than It Used To Be.

It’s not so long ago that being in even a little debt was
considered to be absolutely terrible. When you wanted
something, you saved up for it, and bought it once you had
enough money. If you had bad credit, you couldn’t get a credit
card at all. Go back fifty years and consumer debt figures were
absurdly low, the same way they are today in most of the
non-Western world.

In the West, though, the art of saving seems to be a lost one –
almost no-one is saving enough for their retirement, and banks
are having to offer ever-higher interest rates to get people to
put money anywhere near a savings account. We have an
‘I-want-it-now’ consumer culture, and we’re willing to pay more
than we can afford to fund our lifestyles.

Spending Isn’t To Blame.

Now that I’ve said that, don’t think that the reason you’re in
debt is that you haven’t spent your money cautiously enough.
According to statistics, it is very rare for people to get into
debt because they spend their money frivolously. Far more people
get buried in debt because they lose their job, or get sick –
they take out credit cards to pay for basic expenses, and fall
into the interest trap. Their debt spirals out of control from
just a few thousand dollars borrowed to pay for essentials.

Most people have a reasonable sense of what they can afford,
and won’t go out and use credit cards to buy things that they
wouldn’t usually be able to pay for. The problem is simply a
matter of people leaving their balances on credit cards for too
long, not realising just how high the interest really is.

About the Author: Karen Walker assists individuals,
entrepreneurs, network marketers, and independent professionals
generate substantial incomes within 5 years so that they may
live the life they want, fulfill their passions, and achieve
their dreams! Now, how does your
prospective customer pay you for your products? Clearly, it is
necessary for your site to accept, and process credit card
payments, in real time. Failure to do so, would result in a
failing enterprise.

Before you can begin the application process, there are several
standards that all credit card processors have set. Follow this
checklist and you will save yourself a significant amount of
time, and aggravation.

1) The checkout, and transaction pages must be secure. This
protects the customer from credit card, or identity fraud,
which has become epidemic. You achieve this “security” by
installing a secure socket layer certificate, or SSL. SSL
encrypts information being entered on your site as it is sent
across the Internet, so hackers are unable to steal the
transmitted information. This Certificate has become very
common, and any web host would be able to assist you.

2) A robust Shopping Cart software that utilizes the highest
degree of security, and is compatible with the credit card
processor. This program must be able to receive, and process
orders. Collect personal data, and securely transmit the credit
card data from software to the credit card processor. Most
importantly, the software should provide the building blocks
for a complete, successful customer experience.

3) Your server must have a firewall, especially if you plan on
storing the credit card information on your server. Basically,
a firewall is a combination of software, and hardware, that
inspects incoming data, and filters unwanted, or potentially
destructive packets of information. This firewall will not
allow hackers to enter your server, and steal sensitive
information.

When all these conditions have been met, you are ready to
contact your bank to open a credit card merchant’s account.
Once your account is opened, your bank will suggest a credit
card Gateway. A credit card Gateway receives the customer’s
credit card information from your web site, approves or
declines the charge, and ultimately transmits money to your
bank.

Although the process appears to be very complicated, it is
quite straightforward when you know what you are doing. Plan
ahead, avoid frustration, and provide your customers with an
easy, secure experience that will make them come back for more.

About the Author: Ted Roxan is a contributing editor of
Internet Credit Card Processing Resource.

Credit Card Terminals provides detailed information on Credit Card Terminals, Credit Card Terminal Systems, Wireless Credit Card Terminals, Credit Card Processing Terminals and more. One of the
first research elements a prospective borrower should look at
is the interest rate on transferred debt. This interest rate is
often lower than the usual interest rate for the credit card,
and can be an especially good deal for borrowers who have debt
already. Another element to consider is the interest rate on
new purchases – this rate will be the main concern in the years
to come, as this new credit card will probably become the most
heavily used. Borrowers often worry about annual fees, but
these are often temporary. Getting a credit card with low
interest rates will save a borrower significant sums, usually
much more than the annual fee. Plus, once good credit is
established, the annual fee may later be waived.

Another interest rate will usually apply, as well – the rate
for cash advances. Cash advances are usually limited to a
couple hundred dollars, but credit card companies often insist
that when paying back the balance, the credit portion must be
paid back first, then the portion that the cash advance applies
to. So if you are going to keep a balance on your credit card,
be aware that cash advance interest rates are higher than the
regular interest rates. Cash advances can be incredibly helpful
in emergencies, though, when a credit card cannot be used.

Visa and MasterCard are by far the most commonly accepted
credit cards, so less commonly used cards such as American
Express and Discover often offer special rates for new
customers. These rates are worth attention, even if you think
that you may not be able to use the card as easily as your
previous credit cards, because transferring the balance to
these new cards to obtain the lower interest rate may
significantly lower your payments. While your AmEx or Discover
Card may not be accepted as often, they can be a good tool to
achieving your financial goals.

Even less commonly used are credit cards that are store
specific, such as gas cards or department store cards, but
these cards can offer incredible deals on interest rates. They
rely on the fact that consumers will often switch their
spending patterns to the new gas station or store, and this
increased revenue makes up for the lower interest rates. A
slight change in your habits, such as consistently using the
new credit card at the new gas station, can lower payments and
improve credit scores.

Researching new credit cards can seem daunting, but by
comparing the four main factors, which are the regular interest
rate, the rate on transferred balance, the rate on cash
advances, and the annual fee, you can reduce your credit card
payments significantly.

About the Author: The author runs the finance website
http://www.pawninfo.com about short-term loans and payday
loans, and any or all of this article may be reproduced in any
form as long as there is a link to the website. Some of these tools include wireless Internet connections, and cellular phones. However, there have been recent innovations in these kinds of tools that have made it even easier to conduct business even when people are on the road or in remote locations. One example of this is the wireless merchant account, which allows business owners to accept credit card payments even when they are on the road. The good news is that just like a traditional merchant account, setting up a wireless merchant account is a fairly easy process.

Setting up and using a wireless merchant account

The first step in setting up a wireless merchant account is to find a wireless merchant service provider. One of the best sources of these kinds of service providers is the Internet, where business owners could visit the websites of banks, credit unions, and other financial institutions that provide merchant account services. Usually, the process of applying for a wireless merchant account only takes a few days, which is enough time for the service provider to assess the application.

Once an online business is approved, business owners are given the choice of equipment that they could use to help them use the account. Some examples of these include a credit card processor that could be plugged on any outlet, terminals, and printers, all of which would be very easy to transport and set up. After this, business owners could then use the equipment to accept credit card payments in any location and if they feel that they require more equipment, they could just go to their service provider and get other gadgets like a debit processor or a pager.

Nowadays, wireless technology also extends to credit card processing. This is because today, businesses can set up a wireless merchant account, which would allow them to process credit card payments even when they are on the go. The good news is that setting up this kind of account is a failure easy process that makes possible for almost all business owners conduct their business from anywhere, which can mean higher sales.

Credit Card Processing provides detailed information on Credit Card Processing, Online Credit Card Processing, Credit Card Processing Software, Wireless Credit Card Processing and more. Many have built in pin pads and thermal printers to make them a complete mobile transaction solution. They are lightweight, very portable and are easy to use.

? A wireless credit card machine comes with advanced technology but also with a much higher price tag when compared to standard POS terminals. The starting price on a wireless credit card machine is around $850.00 for full featured terminals and can go up from there.

? Wireless credit card machines are most often used in mobile and trade show businesses, but are becoming more common in upscale restaurants, taxi, limo, and delivery services.

? The comstar charge anywhere terminal has a much lower price, but does not include an attached printer. One of the benefits of wireless terminals is a feature called store and forward. This service allows cards to be processed when no cellular service is available, by storing the card and transaction information obtained in the swiping of the credit card. The merchant later completes the transaction when service is available. By using store and forward, a merchant will never have to turn down a sale.

? Most wireless terminals have built in pin pads, and are also able to operate with electronic check acceptance services. Due to federal regulations, both debit and electronic checks must be processed through a land line connection and cannot be processed wireless. This is due to the added security that is required when transactions involve a customers bank account.

How Wireless Network works

Wireless credit card machines operate on wireless networks, and thus require additional wireless fee for the cellular service. A wireless credit card machine can be used with a normal phone line if cellular service is not available within a particular area, or can be set up with a store and forward system when no telecommunication method is available at all.

Important Wireless Network Information

? Mobitex Wireless Processing Network

It uses a satellite network, and operates similar to a cellular phone. This network is the standard for wireless processing. The mobitex network is run by Velocita Wireless. This is not the standard cellular phone network, but is designed specifically for business and processing uses.

? CDPD Wireless Processing Network

It is similar to but pre-dates the Motient network is called CDPD. Machines that use the CDPD system will soon be useless on the wireless processing network because the CDPD system is being abandoned. It is important when purchasing a wireless terminal to ensure that the machine does not use the CDPD wireless network but uses the Motient or CDMA networks.

? Wireless Network

Wireless Network is very new for processing is the standard GSM and CDMA cellular phone networks. The GSM network is used by Cingular and T-Mobile. The CDMA network is used by Verizon and Sprint Wireless. These systems are the networks that most cellular phones operate on, allowing for a very large coverage area and reliable service. The coverage area is substantially larger than the Motient Network.

For more details on Credit Card Machine visit us at http://www.halfvalue.com/ and www.halfvalue.co.ukfor more information.
This article is free for republishing
Source: http://www.a1articles.com/article_90956_45.html

Wireless Credit Card Terminals

A Quick Guide to Credit Card Machines by Jake Atkinson

We've come a long way since the first credit card machine was launched in the market. Today there are different types of credit card machines, and you can choose the one that is best suited to your business needs.

The Wireless Credit Card Machine: For a mobile business, a wireless credit card machine is the best option. The wireless model is the most advanced credit card processing machine available today, and also the most expensive one. It is important to remember, however, that the area where you plan to use the machine should have sufficient cellular coverage if you decide to go the wireless route.

Credit Card Terminals That Can Handle Multiple Merchant Accounts: Your business needs may require you to maintain separate accounts for separate employees/service providers. For such businesses, the multiple merchant accounts option is a sensible one. The most commonly used credit card terminals that can handle multiple merchant accounts include Nurit 2085, Nurit 3020, Nurit 3010, Nurit 8000, Omni 3750, Omni 3740, and the Verifone Tranz 380x2.

The Terminal Without An Attached Printer: These machines (without printers) are commonly used when mail ordering or phone ordering is involved. When the business is run in a mobile environment, and the credit card number is called in to a central location where the number is keyed in, then too, machines without printers are often used. Also, when your business is a mobile one (landscaping, plumbing, locksmith), yet the wireless machine is not feasible for you, then this option is a very effective one. The printer-less credit card machines are very cost-effective - prices can range from $200.00 - $450.00 for a new machine, and $150.00 - $300.00 for a refurbished unit. The Verifone Tranz 330 and Verifone Tranz 380 are two of the most popular machines in this category.

The Terminal With An Attached Printer: For your retail business, this machine, which includes an integrated impact or thermal printer, lets you issue a receipt to the customer at the time of the sale. Also, in this category you can purchase machines that have built in pinpads. It makes sense to have this feature, because it lets you accept debit cards without purchasing a separate pinpad. Though machines with integrated printers are slightly more expensive that the credit card processing machines that don't have attached printers, they are priced reasonably. The price ranges from around $275 - $900, depending on the model and features. The most widely used terminals in this category include the Hypercom T7 Plus, the Nurit 2085, and the Verifone Omni 3200se. If you are looking for integrated pinpads in the machine (that let you process debit cards without purchasing separate pinpads), you can select from the Nurit 2085 Plus, Nurit 8320, and the Omni 3210se.
About the Author

Jake Atkinson recommends MerchantEquip for more information on credit card machines.

Wireless Credit Card Terminals

Merchant Credit Card Terminals
By Kent Pinkerton

Merchant credit card terminals are electronic devices offering fast, low-cost means to authorize and process credit card transactions.

Credit Card Terminals provides detailed information on Credit Card Terminals, Credit Card Terminal Systems, Wireless Credit Card Terminals, Credit Card Processing Terminals and more. Credit Card Terminals is affiliated with Credit Card Processing Software.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Kent_Pinkerton
http://EzineArticles.com/?Merchant-Credit-Card-Terminals&id=353177

Wireless Credit Card Terminals

How To Get A Low Interest Credit Card
By Tom Coleman

Consumers often have the first credit card that they ever
applied for, never really analizing how the interest rate
affects their payments, but many other options exist and can
help consumers decrease their payments and achieve financial
stability.

With interest rates on some credit cards rising to over 23%,
even low balance credit card debt can be crippling. One of the
first research elements a prospective borrower should look at
is the interest rate on transferred debt.

Having customers pay the minimum doesn’t
reduce the balance by very much, but when the 18-30% interest
rates that many credit cards charge is applied, the result is a
profitable ones for the banks that issue credit cards. A balance
of $1000 can take nine years to pay off at 20% interest if the
borrower only pays the minimum due each month.

Clearly, it is not in the best interests of consumers to pay
the minimum every month. But tens of thousands of Americans do
just that, carrying huge balances and paying the minimum every
month. The average household now carries $10,000 in credit card
debt; for many people, paying the minimum is all they can
manage. Due to changes in Federal law, several major credit
card issuing banks will soon raise the minimum amount due to
4%. This might seem like a small increase, but if you are
already deep in debt and paying the minimum amount, this could
cause your payments to double. If you have a $10,000 balance
and you are paying $200 per month, you will soon need to come
up with $400 instead. Many people will find this impossible to
do, as they are already paying as much as they can. What
solutions are available?

The usual common sense rules of credit card use apply here.
Stop using your credit cards. See if you can consolidate your
debt on another credit card with lower interest. See if you can
cut out some unnecessary expenses in order to free up some more
money to pay your balance. Consider a home equity loan to
consolidate your debt. Call your card issuing bank and see if
they can work out repayment plan or lower your interest rate.
There are numerous solutions available, but card holders need
to be aware that the minimum payment is rising, and it isn’t
going to come back down. By charging a 4% minimum, the credit
card issuing banks are hoping that consumers will pay off their
debt a bit sooner and that fewer consumers will find themselves
in a situation where filing for bankruptcy is the only
solution. And once October comes around, even filing for
bankruptcy will be more difficult. Credit card holders with
large balances on their accounts should give considerable
thought to reducing their debt now, as payment options and
requirements are going to be more strict from now on.

About the Author: ©Copyright 2005 by Retro Marketing. Now, the chip technology has made its appearance in the world of finances and payments. It will most definitely contribute to making transactions safer and securer.

Electronic Chip Credit Card’s Concept

The Chip stores data in its memory making transaction really simple as all your personal details will be included in the cheap. This will contribute to commerce making payment faster, safer and incredibly easy to handle. The only thing you’ll need to do is enter the pin number that will validate ownership of the financial product associated with the card as well as your identity.

The electronic chip replaces the old magnetic band. This band was a security problem due to the possibility for an unscrupulous person to access, read, modify, write or delete the information stored on it with very cheap pieces of hardware. Credit card duplication became a common practice and in many countries you are required to show some ID when paying with a credit card.

Information Safety

The electronic chip credit cards help keep data safe and avoid information from being forged and tampered. Thus, these new cards are proving to be a lot more reliable than magnetic band credit cards. The sole problem is that you need to remember the pin number and that access to your pin number implies access to all of your information stored on the card. However, this number requires validation from time to time in order to make things even safer. The period of time will be determined by the credit card issuer.

How Does It Function

These credit cards do not need to be passed through the reader, since they work with a chip, you just need to deep it into the terminal and all the information is immediately read. You won’t have to worry about damaging or demagnetizing the card as these chips are a lot more resistant. The chip reader is also capable of reading and saving information on the chip. Thus, a store will be able to store proprietary data on a card thus making it possible to add award programs, information for making deliveries, etc.

Also, since these cards do not require a magnetic band, they can be incredibly small. Inside the small chip you can include mobile ATM facilities, remote ticketing, online payments, and many more services that will be added as the technology becomes more and more popular with time. These cards will be able to unify several accounts, debit and credit facilities, telephone number, etc. Amazingly these chip equipped credit cards will make online as well as offline purchases a very simple, fast and secure procedure.

---

You will find more useful tips and interesting articles on this subject and other financial related topics by clicking Here

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Mary_Wise
http://EzineArticles.com/?Electronic-Chip-Equipped-Credit-Cards&id=397361

Wireless Credit Card Terminals

Is Your Wireless Network Secure?
By Jeremy Whittaker

Networking professionals are encouraging people to think
twice about wireless network security. You might be
thinking I use WEP-128 bit encryption with MAC address
filtering, I’m safe. Or you may be you’ve never even heard
of WEP, if this is the case you might want to unplug your
wireless access point immediately. But then again look at
the bright side at least you don’t have the false sense of
security that your network is secure. Perhaps you are the
smart guy who knows how insecure wireless networks are. You
too are at just an equal risk!

Your computer consultant might be partially right when they
say WEP will protect your network. It will protect your
network from casual snooping but that is about it. Last
year the FBI was able to crack a WEP protected network in
less than 3 minutes with tools widely available on the
internet. Since then it’s been downhill for WEP.

At this point you might be thinking, “Oh well, someone gets
on my network and uses the internet”. This is completely
false. If someone has gone through the process of getting
on your network chances are the only thing they want is not
internet access. Any computer security professional will
tell you that physical access to the network is 95% of the
security battle. Once this has been accomplished you can
consider all of your data compromised. Customer invoices,
customer data, credit card numbers and passwords to
financial institutions will all be in the hands of a hacker.

One in many methods can be used to gain access to your
personal data, whether it’s through Key loggers, Trojans, or
just by sniffing your plaintext network traffic.

Maybe, just maybe, I have not convinced you of the
insecurities of wireless networks. Let me tell you about
another attack that hackers can use to gain access to your
network. Let’s say your access points are completely locked
down, to your knowledge. A user from your network goes and
flips on their laptop while sitting in an airport terminal
waiting for a plane. They see an available insecure
wireless network so they click on it and connect. None of us
have ever done this before right, itching to check their
email one last time before heading out of town? Unbeknownst
to them they have just clicked on a fake honeypot wireless
network, set up by a rogue hacker that before they can even
realize their machine is already being scanned. Picture for
a moment that user could be anywhere, even sitting at a desk
in your network. Just as long as the rogue access point is
stronger than your AP’s radio signal you’re security is
done.

May be you fall into the category of never setting up
wireless networks because you read about their insecurities.

How then can you be at risk? Just consider for a moment
that a user in your organization fires up his wireless card.

See’s a wireless network that is named XYZCorp after your
company. So they connect to it and immediately a script is
hammering their machine for security vulnerabilities. Once
again they connected to a rogue access point setup by a
hacker. Now you might be thinking. “C’mon you must have to
be a computer genius to find and run these tools.” Think
again, thanks to the kind people over at remote-exploit.org
all these tools can be downloaded in one big happy ISO file.

Burned to a CD as an image and bang you’re done, ready to
take a drive to the nearest business and start sniffing
credit card numbers. Everything wrapped into a nice package
just waiting for the next script kiddy to start running the
programs. You may be thinking ok this is a major problem so
what should I do? Give up my organizations ability to use
wireless networks? This isn’t exactly what we are saying.
A newer wireless security technology has taken over in 2004
called WPA. It is more secure than WEP. And so far tools
are not as readily available to hack your network. But
consider the following. WEP was ratified in the late 1990’s
less than six years later it was exploited. This is typical
of almost every computer technology. It is only a matter of
time before technologies are exploited. Just always
remember Security is a multi-tiered companywide
responsibility. From providing physical security to web
site security all matters should be considered serious and
not taken lightly. So before you grab a wireless access
point and slap it in your network, I urge you to think
twice.

You may think you are in a sinking boat because you are a
small organization not able to implement the latest
technologies and afford the newest access points. Or maybe
you cannot afford to pay an IT staff over 100k-200k a year
to maintain your medium size network. Executives at
N2
Network Solutions say you should consider IT outsourcing or
IT consulting. You can get Industry certified engineers on
a project by project basis. Contractual relationships are
also available to dump the responsibility of your network
into their hands for a fraction of the price. To keep your
small to medium size network performing like a Fortune 500
machine invest the capital and secure your assets.

Jeremy Whittaker is a Senior Consultant for N2 Network Solutions, a leader in Phoenix IT Outsourcing, providing computer services and Phoenix IT Consulting.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Jeremy_Whittaker
http://EzineArticles.com/?Is-Your-Wireless-Network-Secure?&id=256379

Wireless Credit Card Terminals

The "Credit Card Debt Termination" Scam
By Charles Phelan

"Legally terminate credit card debt! You can be debt-free in
4-6 months!" Advertisements like this are for a new type of
program that has spread via the Internet over the past few
years. It's called "Credit Card Debt Termination," and victims
are paying up to $3,500 for this bogus service. In this
article, I'll review the principles behind this program and
explain exactly why it's a scam to be avoided.

First, let's get our definitions straight. The scheme I'm
describing here should not be confused with Debt Consolidation
or Debt Settlement (also known as Debt Negotiation), both of
which are legitimate and ethical methods for debt resolution.
The easiest way to distinguish the Credit Card Debt Termination
scam from other valid programs is based on the central claim
that you really don't owe any money!

With Debt Consolidation, you pay back all of your debt
balances. With Debt Settlement, you pay back a lower amount
(usually around 50%) while the creditor agrees to forgive the
remaining balance. However, with the bogus Credit Card Debt
Termination program, promoters claim that you won't need to pay
anything at all (except their outrageous fees, naturally). They
make the surprising claim that you can legally wipe away your
debts simply by using their super-duper magic documents. Based
on some legal mumbo-jumbo, the claim is made that you really
didn't borrow any money from your creditors!

In order to understand this scam, a little background is
necessary. Remember the tax protest movement back in the 1970s?
People were claiming that the IRS tax collection system was
unconstitutional, and based on their misinterpretation of the
tax code, they refused to pay taxes. The IRS came down hard on
the tax protest movement, and through the court system, they
blew holes in all the legal arguments put forth by the
protesters. The Credit Card Debt Termination scam is a lot like
the tax protest movement. In fact, among collection
professionals, it's called the "monetary protest movement."

Just like the tax protest movement, there is a common theme
that runs through all of the promotional materials issued by
the monetary protestors. The basic idea is that our Federal
Reserve monetary system and generally accepted accounting
principles (GAAP) do not permit banks to loan out their own
money. Therefore, according to their interpretation, the credit
card banks are the ones running the scam on the American public.

Stay with me here, because the logic is pretty strange. If a
bank cannot lend its own money, how does a credit card bank
extend credit? The claim here is that your credit card
agreement itself becomes a form of money (known as a promissory
note) the moment you sign it. The idea is that the bank
"deposits" your agreement as an asset on their books, and then
any credit you use is offset as a liability against that asset.
In other words, the core concept here is that you literally
borrowed your own money from the credit card bank.

So let's say your balance with ABC Credit Card Bank is $10,000,
which you borrowed against the card to make everyday purchases.
The scam promoters say all you need to do is notify the bank
that you want your original "deposit" back. However, you will
permit the bank to offset the amount you borrowed against the
amount you have on "deposit." Presto! You don't owe the balance
anymore!

Now, as you can imagine, the banks don't take kindly to such
tactics. Many of the consumers using this technique are getting
sued by their creditors. But the scammers have more tricks
available, as if the "smoke and mirrors" financial nonsense
wasn't enough. One of their techniques is the use of bogus
"arbitration" forums. Arbitration is of course a legitimate
system that allows businesses and individuals to resolve
disputes without going to court. What do the scammers do? They
coach people on how to set up a fake arbitration forum, for the
express purpose of making a dispute against their creditors!
Naturally, the creditors will not send representatives to some
non-existent arbitration forum, so the consumer gets to
rubber-stamp their own arbitration award. If they get sued in a
regular court, they present their bogus award to the judge in
the hopes that the creditor's lawsuit will be dismissed.

There are other techniques used by promoters of this scheme,
but the key point to remember is the central claim that your
credit card debt does not really exist. Of course, it's all
nonsense based on a misinterpretation of our monetary system,
and if you step back and think about for a minute, the truth
seems pretty obvious. What these scammers are saying is that
the entire $700 billion credit card industry is operating on an
illegal basis! Even if the legal theory used by the promoters
were true (which it isn't), do you think for a moment the
government would allow this giant industry to go under? That's
exactly what would happen if the promoter's claims were proven
true and used on a widespread basis.

The Federal Trade Commission, which has jurisdiction here,
hasn't stomped on these con artists yet, but it's only a matter
of time. Unfortunately, in the meanwhile, consumers are being
bilked out of millions of dollars for a worthless program that
will only get them into deep trouble with their creditors. If
you are approached by someone offering to wipe away your debts
using this system, I strongly recommend you run in the other
direction while you hold on tightly to your wallet or purse.

Remember, you can eliminate your debts if you take a
disciplined approach to your finances, make a budget and stick
to it, and don't use your credit cards unless you can pay off
new balances in full each month.

Good luck in your financial future!

About the Author: Charles J.

Credit Card Terminals provides detailed information on Credit Card Terminals, Credit Card Terminal Systems, Wireless Credit Card Terminals, Credit Card Processing Terminals and more. They are commonly used in utility companies, mail order

businesses, call center operations, newspapers and magazines, insurance

companies, charities, and service companies. With virtual credit card terminals, you

can manually enter credit card transactions for mail or phone order sales, refund

money to a customer's credit card, automatically bill customers for recurring charges,

check the status of transactions, run a variety of reports, and capture previously

authorized transaction.

Virtual terminals are software-based credit card terminals enabling you to quickly

capture and authorize credit card transactions in real time. When the process is

complete, the merchant receives an authorization number and the server stores the

transaction details. Transactions are automatically settled at the end of the day and

the reports are generated within two to three business days.

Compared with POS (point of sale) terminals, virtual credit card terminals are very

fast. Other features of virtual credit card terminals include address verification service,

customer and merchant email notifications, recurring payments, and detailed reporting

capabilities. Automatic item sub-total calculation, credit card swipe card option,

automatic tax calculation, automatic shipping calculation, item discount calculator,

billing and shipping data fields, and coupon or rebate calculator are the added features

of virtual credit card terminals.

Unlike other software packages, virtual credit card terminals do not need licensing

fees and fees for upgrades and customer service. The cost is always associated with

authorizing and processing of credit card transactions. Most software-based credit

card terminals utilize flash memory to store the software.

Credit Card Terminals provides detailed information on Credit Card Terminals, Credit

Card Terminal Systems, Wireless Credit Card Terminals, Credit Card Processing

Terminals and more. An internet merchant account holder has to pay for a secure server, expensive credit card processing software, customer service fees, minimum transaction fees, monthly gateway fees etc.

If you are starting a new business, third party credit card processing firms can accept credit card orders on your behalf. For each transaction, the company will charge 3% to 15% of the sales price of each product. For setting up the service, the 3rd party processors usually charge a small one-time fee or sometimes provide free service. Third party credit card processing is recommended only in the starting phase of a business when cash is less and the products for sale are limited in number. Once the business is established and if your funds allow you to purchase an internet merchant account, it is wise to buy one. However, if your gross revenue is less than $650 per month, it is recommended not to set up a gateway/internet merchant account.

You can sign up for third party credit card processing by paying the prescribed fee if any, and get approval. Now you are eligible to create ordering links for your products. These ordering links go to the 3rd party processor's server and they will handle orders for you. The 3rd party processors provide ordering options, which include online checks, credit cards, telephone ordering option, etc. When a deal is through, you will easily get the money due to you, minus the transaction charges.

Third party processing is a great option for non-US businesses; however, if your revenue goes beyond $650 per month, a merchant account would be cost effective compared to 3rd party processing. It would be wise to consult an e-commerce specialist before you make use of this application of e-commerce for your business.

Credit Card Processing provides detailed information on Credit Card Processing, Online Credit Card Processing, Credit Card Processing Software, Wireless Credit Card Processing and more. So a business phone system is considered to be one of the most important purchases for a business. While you reach your customers, clients and partners easily through the telephone, it has to also be the easiest way for them to reach you. They are sure to get irritated if routed incorrectly, disconnected or faced with a bewildering array of automated options.

Key systems, Private Branch Exchange (PBX) systems and KSU-less phones are the three types of commercial phone systems available on the market today. You have to choose your system depending on how many extensions and features you need. If your company has more than 40 employees, PBX systems are the best solution. If there are only 5 to 40 employees, then key systems are better. There is some technical difference between these two, but both require professional installation and maintenance. For companies with less than 10 employees, then a KSU-less system meets your needs. These systems are not permanently wired to your office, and can be easily unplugged, moved to a new location or sold. However, make sure that this system is compatible with the telephone wiring in your office. These systems, though inexpensive, are not usually sold or supported by telecom vendors and so you have to do the shopping, installation, programming and maintenance on your own.

When buying your business phone system, make sure that the system is the right size for your office and that it has enough capacity for your current needs while planning for growth. You also have to check the compatibility of the system with other equipment you may already own, like voicemail, messaging on-hold, conferencing equipment and headsets. Two other factors that determine the size of your business phone system are lines, which indicate the total number of outside lines used by the company, and extensions, which refer to the devices in the company that are connected to the phone system: telephones, fax machines, modems, credit-card terminals and modems. Other features you can think of adding to your phone system are the auto attendant, which is a recorded message that answers your phone and instructs callers on reaching specific people in the company. Conferencing features vary on the use of conference calls by the staff, and how many people need to call in. Music on hold is easy, as you just have to plug in a source of music to the business phone system.

Phone Systems provides detailed information on Phone Systems, Business Phone Systems, Phone System Reviews, Phone System Repairs and more. Telecommunications (tele-translated from the Greek to mean “distant” and Latin communicare- to participate) is defined as the transmission of information over a line of communication, like that of a telephone, which is carried over a long distance. It may or may not use a modem. The information may be communicated through voice, text, images, or even video via any product that will work, like a fax machine. Any product that enables telecommunication is classified as a Telecom Product.

Since Alexander Graham Bell invented his “electrical speech machine” (now known as the telephone) back in 1876, the telecommunications industry has evolved to include a wide array of products for both business and personal use. Below you will find several different types of telecom products and brief explanations of their different usage.

We’ll begin our mission with the originator- the telephone. Since it’s invention, the device has gotten smaller, portable, and even wireless. Accessories such as answering machines can attach to your phone or phone line for friends, family and/or clients and customers to leave you an important message when you’re unavailable to take a call. All-in-one answering machine/telephone contraptions have gained substantial popularity in recent years as the price dropped with the advancement of technology. Multi-line telephones for busy offices are also becoming more affordable for those who didn’t have the extra funding for such a telecommunications device.

Facsimile machines, also known as “fax” machines for short, take text or images from a piece of paper and transfer the data to another fax machine anywhere in the world via telephone lines. Much like the recent popularity of answering machine/telephone combinations and other telecommunication devices, technology has advanced to bring the price and size down and the convenience of all-in-one equipment for the average consumer. Phone/fax/copy/printer combinations are in a growing number of households across the country and around the globe.

If you have your own business that requires a combination of telecom products, it might be in your best interest to invest in a Voice/Data Line Sharing Device. This port-switching mechanism will allow you to run telephones, fax machines, modems, answering machines, climate control, security monitoring, credit card terminals and poll cash registers without needing a separate line for each.

Finally two-way radios, commonly referred to as “Walkie-Talkies”, are yet another device that falls into the category of telecom products. And yes, just like all of the other products we’ve covered, the price and size have dropped while the technology expanded. In fact, there are two-way radios that can communicate with each other from as far away as 6 miles depending on the area and terrain. Multiple units that run on the same frequency work quite well for large fleets after they are cloned for synchronization. LCD screens make for some easy programming by all.

John Hampton recommends that you visit http://www.sjtelecommunications.com/ for more information on Telecom Products.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=John_Hampton
http://EzineArticles.com/?Types-of-Telecom-Products&id=398755

Wireless Credit Card Terminals

Wireless Credit Card Processing
By Thomas Morva

Given the hectic work schedules that people keep nowadays, a number of tools have been developed to help people especially business owner who are always on the go to conduct their business from different locations.

While they're a relatively small purchase in terms of dollars, the total impact a credit card terminal can have on your business is enormous. Businesses already using credit card terminals may want to purchase additional equipment to support a growing business or upgrade older equipment to support additional services, such as debit card transactions. Merchant account providers typically charge half a percent more for keyed-in transactions than for swiped charges; if your old credit card terminal doesn't read cards as well as it used to, it could be costing you money. Whether you need a new credit card terminal or want to upgrade your old equipment, you can find a credit card terminal that fits your needs on eBay.

* Determine What Type of Credit Card Terminal You Need
* Choose Special Credit Card Terminal Features
* Select Credit Card Terminal Receipt Printers
* Find Credit Card Terminals on eBay
* Buy Credit Card Terminals With Confidence

Determine What Type of Credit Card Terminal You Need

Credit card equipment is not particularly expensive and, in most cases, you should buy a credit card terminal outright. A 48-month lease could cost you over $1,000 for a credit card terminal that you could have purchased for much less. You can typically find traditional credit card terminals (with or without printers), wireless credit card terminals, and virtual or software-based credit card terminals.

    * Traditional credit card terminals: Basic credit card terminals include a magnetic stripe reader, a keypad to enter prices and other information, and a small display. The required printer can be built-in or a separate unit. Remember that while it may be slightly easier to deal with one piece of equipment than two, the impact on your business either way will be minimal. Traditional credit card terminals have different types of displays: obviously, larger displays let you see more information at once. Displays are usually measured in lines and columns: an 8 x 20 display has 8 lines of text, 20 columns wide. Getting a backlit display, standard on most new terminals, lets you use the terminal even in low light. Keypads vary in size and number of keys. Keypads with more keys typically give you the option to assign commonly-used functions to their own key; larger keypads can improve ease of use.

    * Wireless credit card terminals: Wireless credit card terminals provide a significant advantage for some businesses, especially those that require credit card terminals to change location. For example, taxi drivers, seasonal businesses with temporary locations, and large lot businesses can all greatly increase efficiency by accepting credit cards wirelessly. Wireless credit card terminals also have built-in printers. Important factors to consider when evaluating wireless terminals include battery life, range, weight, and shock-resistance - there's a chance you may drop it occasionally.

    * Virtual credit card terminal: If you do business exclusively over the phone or Internet, you may not need a physical credit card terminal. Your merchant account provider should be able to provide POS software that handles the transaction: you simply type in the credit card number and the software handles the authorization. Some software-based credit card terminals use flash memory to store the software that runs them, which allows system updates to easily download and install, potentially extending the operating life of your credit card terminal.

Credit card terminals can only be used in conjunction with a merchant account, which processes credit card transactions. Any credit card terminal can be used with any merchant account -- the terminal just has to be programmed to connect to the right provider. Purchasing credit card equipment from your merchant account provider can simplify the process - it will pre-program the terminals for you. The merchant account provider also knows that you will be working with them for years to come, so it's more likely to give you a break on terminal pricing and may not be as interested in selling you models at the highest prices. If you plan to purchase your terminals separately, the choice of vendor isn't terribly important because the transaction is a one-time purchase, not the start of an ongoing relationship.

Choose Special Credit Card Terminal Features

Millions of credit card terminals ship every year and most of them have the same basic features and functions. If you want special features, look for credit card terminals that:

    * Accept debit cards. In addition to major credit cards, you will probably want a credit card terminal that accepts debit cards. Most do, but to complete a debit transaction, you also need a way for customers to enter their personal identification number (PIN). This can be done directly on the terminal or through a separate PIN pad. Separate PIN pads let you keep the terminal safely behind the counter and give customers convenient access to type in their code.

    * Handle gift cards. Certain credit card terminals can issue and accept gift cards. Many credit card terminals also support additional forms of payment, such as phone cards and electronic bank transfers (EBT). The volume you see in these alternative payment methods should dictate whether you look for a credit card terminal that supports them.

    * Help verify addresses. The address verification system (AVS) provides additional security for your transactions. By comparing the address on a customer's ID with the billing address of the credit card, AVS greatly cuts down on fraud. AVS is a standard feature on most credit card terminals - do not buy a terminal without it.

Remember to keep your credit card terminals clean. Dust, crumbs, and paper lint can quickly clog printers and gum up stripe readers. An inexpensive can of compressed air can quickly clean your terminal and help it last up to five years.

Select Credit Card Terminal Receipt Printers

With your credit card terminal, you'll need a receipt printer to issue receipts and slips for customer signatures. Whether your receipt printer is built in to the terminal or a stand-alone unit, you'll need to choose between the two main types of receipt printers: dot matrix receipt printers and thermal receipt printers. Consider price, speed, and reliability.

    * Dot matrix receipt printers: Dot matrix receipt printers, also known as impact printers, use pins and an ink ribbon to print on regular paper. Fairly inexpensive, dot matrix receipt printers tend to have slower print speeds, typically printing one to four lines per second.

    * Thermal receipt printers: Thermal receipt printers use heat and special heat-sensitive paper to generate receipts. Thermal receipt printers cost slightly more than dot matrix receipt printers, but offer faster performance (with speeds of 10 to 15 lines per second), less noise, and are generally more reliable because they have fewer moving parts. Over several years of use, the higher cost of thermal paper about equals the cost of buying both paper and ribbons for dot matrix printers.

    * Inkjet receipt printers: Fairly rare inkjet receipt printers give you the ability to print in multiple colors. However, they have neither the speed of thermal printers nor the low costs of dot matrix printers.

Changing paper can be a hassle when you have customers waiting; many receipt printers now have drop-in paper loading, which can simplify and speed up the process.

Back to topBack to top
Find Credit Card Terminals on eBay

Once you know what type of credit card terminal you want:

1. Go to the Business & Industrial category portal and click Food Service & Retail.
2. Click the Point of Sale, POS Equipment link, found in the Categories list on the left side of the page.
3. Click the Credit Card Terminals, Readers link, found in the Categories list on the left side of the page.
4. Use the Categories list on the left side of the page to narrow down listings by brand. You'll find links for Hypercom, Linkpoint, Nurit, Verifone, and Other Terminals & Readers.

You can also search eBay listing titles for specific words. For example, if you want to find a wireless credit card terminal, type "wireless terminal" (without quotation marks) into the Search box. Click "Search title and description" to expand your results. Visit eBay's Search Commands page for more tips on searching with keywords.

If you can't find exactly what you want, try shopping eBay Stores, tell the eBay Community what you want by creating a post on Want It Now, or save a search on My eBay and eBay will email you when a match becomes available.

Buy Credit Card Terminals With Confidence

Hundreds of credit card terminals listed on eBay in the Business & Industrial category will likely interest you. When trying to select the right credit card terminal, get to know exactly what you're buying, research the seller, and understand how eBay and PayPal protect you.
Know your purchase

Many sellers put a lot of time into creating their listings, making an effort to ensure they include all the information buyers need. Carefully read the details in listings for the credit card terminal you consider buying and carefully review available photos. Before placing a bid or buying an item, be sure to:

    * Have all your questions answered: If you still have questions after reading the listing and reviewing the photos, contact the seller using the Ask seller a question link in the “Seller information” box in the top right corner of every credit card terminal listing. Also request additional photos if you want to see the credit card terminal from a particular angle that isn’t shown in the photos included in the listing. If you have more questions than you can address in email, get the seller’s phone number and give him/her a call. Some sellers even include their phone number so you can call them directly. Just remember that you need to actually bid and buy on eBay in order to be covered by eBay and PayPal protection programs (see "Buyer protection" below for more details).

    * Get delivery details: Calculate and include delivery costs into your final price. This may simply be the cost of shipping or the cost of driving across the city or state if the item is close-by.

    * Complete your transaction on eBay: Always complete your transaction on eBay (with a bid, Buy It Now, or Best Offer). Transactions conducted outside of eBay are not covered by eBay and PayPal protection programs (see "Buyer protection" below for more details).

    * Know your payment options: Never pay for an item on eBay using instant cash wire transfer services such as Western Union or MoneyGram. These payment methods are unsafe when paying someone you do not know. Instead, pay with PayPal for amounts less than $2,000 (including deposits), a money order, or direct bank-to-bank fund transfer.

    * Track items with eBay Toolbar: Use the free eBay Toolbar to track items you bid on and watch. It includes Account Guard, a feature that indicates when you're visiting a verified eBay or PayPal website and warns you when you enter your eBay password into an unverified site, even if it looks like eBay or PayPal.

Know your seller

Just as important as researching your credit card terminal purchase is getting to know the seller. Take time to research the seller so that you can feel positive and secure about every transaction. Key things to look for when evaluating a seller are:

    * Positive Feedback: What is the seller's Feedback rating? How many transactions have they completed? What percentage of positive responses do they have? What do buyers and sellers say in their Feedback? Did the seller receive praise?

    * Sales history: Take the time to look at the Feedback details. Find out how long the seller has been a registered eBay user and look at the types of items a seller typically offers.

    * Terms and conditions: What are the terms and conditions of the sale? Are the terms agreeable to you? Sellers typically set terms and conditions, but you should make sure you agree with them. If not, find another seller/credit card terminal or contact the seller to find out if he/she is open to your suggestions.

    * Good communication: Once you’ve initiated communications with the seller, how is he/she communicating with you? Is the seller courteous and professional? Is the seller responsive? Once you bid, communicate with the seller through My Messages in My eBay. All legitimate Second Chance Offer messages will come through My Messages and not to your email address alone. Always contact the seller before accepting a Second Chance Offer, and never respond to any request to send money via Western Union or other instant cash transfer service.

Buyer protection

In the unlikely event a problem arises during your transaction, you can typically work it out with the seller. However, if you can’t, eBay and PayPal are there for you.

    * Use PayPal: PayPal enables you to pay up to $2,000 without the seller ever seeing your bank account or credit card numbers. Also, PayPal protects buyers 100% against unauthorized payments from their accounts.
* eBay Security & Resolution Center: Visit the Security & Resolution Center to learn how to protect your account and use eBay's quick and efficient resolution tools.

Introduction, "Determine What Type of Credit Card Terminal You Need," "Choose Special Credit Card Terminal Features," and "Select Credit Card Terminal Receipt Printers" were provided by BuyerZone.com . © 2005, BuyerZone.com, Inc.
